I grew up in a very loving Christian home and knew about Jesus Christ’s love since a very young age. In 2004, I came over to the UK from Malaysia with my parents. I attended church regularly. In 2007, I moved to Leicester to continue my studies at university. This period of time was very challenging since my parents had to move back to Malaysia and financially it was very difficult for me. Looking back now, the sole reason I am here now is God; His strength has sustained me.
Early 2011, after graduating for a few months now, I moved to London from Midlands; this move was like stepping into the unknown since I had not found a place to live etc. The first week in London, I heard about Regeneration Church and decided to give it a go. People were very friendly and I instantly felt welcomed and accepted. At this point of my life, everything was uncertain; in terms of place to live, job and my future.
But step by step, God led me. And many in Regeneration played a huge role in strengthening my relationship with God. I realised that God was accessible at all times, not just during prayer times. He is constantly there to listen to me and to answer me and I became more aware of His presence in my life. He is also a very gracious and loving God; Christ’s grace and the work He had already done on the cross became more of a reality than mere knowledge.
One by one things started to fall into place; I found a home to live, I was offered a place to do medicine in Malaysia, and I was also offered a place to do a short term exposure programme onboard a ship (Logos Hope). Serving God on this ship as a medical doctor has always been my heart’s desire and passion and I believe this is my very first step. The past six months in London and at this church has been a true blessing and a truly mind renewing experience. God used many individuals at re:generation to speak into my life and these moments have truly transformed my life for better. I regard being part of this church as one of the greatest blessings in my past 7 years stay in the UK and I am very thankful to God.
